This week we will be under an excessive heat warning so we will be keeping a close eye on the the temperatures. Please send your student to school with a water bottle so they can stay well hydrated and make sure they are dressed cool. If the temperature or heat index is high, the grade school will stay inside for recess.

Grade School Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
Drop-Off:
-Please do not drop off your students before 7:45 a.m.
-Pre-K students are the only students that should be dropped off on the East side of the building.
Pick-Up:
-Please remember that Kindergarten and Pre-K students are not dismissed until 2:55.
-The west side of the main parking lot is reserved for Pre-K parents/guardians that are picking up their children. If you do not have a student in Pre-K, please stay in the pick-up line. Students will be brought out to you. Please do NOT get out of your vehicle.
-Please travel west on Missouri Street and enter the pick-up line on Jefferson Street. This keeps traffic from being backed up on Route 33.

5th Grade Parents and Guardians:
If your child is still interested in band, but they don’t have an instrument yet, below are a few places where you can get reliable band instruments.
1. The Music Shoppe - reliable instruments that can easily be taken in for repair if needed.
https://www.themusicshoppe.com/aerntschoolselect
2. Blue Potato - the music shop in downtown Oblong works closely with the Music Shoppe and has quality band instruments.
3. Ask Mr. Honn - if you think you have found an instrument that is not from the two sources above, make sure to ask Mr. Honn if he thinks it’s a good instrument! It can be frustrating for a child when their instrument fights them more than it helps them to become a better player!
Rental instruments that have already been ordered from The Music Shoppe will be available to those students on the first day of band.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Honn at dhonn@oblongschools.net

Nurse Amanda will be available in the foyer outside the Grade School office on Wednesday, August 17 during "Meet the Teacher" from 4:00 - 7:00 pm for parents to bring in:

-Any medication to be given at school

Welcome Back! Below you will find important information for the school year.

Greetings Panthers!
On behalf of the faculty and staff at OHS, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to school. Our first day of student attendance is Friday, August 18th, and we will have a 2:00 p.m. dismissal. We ask that you access your schedule in Skyward before the start of school, but we will provide schedules for students that need one in the media center. If you have a question concerning your schedule, please email Mrs. Lewis at alewis@oblongschools.net.
Along with accessing your schedule, we are asking students to pick up their Chromebooks before school starts. Freshmen and new students will receive their Chromebooks at Freshmen Orientation on Wednesday, August 16th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can pick up their Chromebooks on Wednesday, August 16th or Thursday, August 17th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the High School Media Center.
Students that are taking Welding through Lincoln Trail College will start on Thursday, August 17th. Students that are taking Building Trades, Child Care, Auto Mechanics, and Health OCC will begin the week of August 21st. We will clearly communicate your start dates during class meetings on August 18th. Since these courses are off campus, students are required to ride the bus transportation provided by the school district.
I’m looking forward to a great school year and please feel free to contact me at 618-592-4235 (school), 618-354-1463 (cell), or ajulian@oblongschools.net if you have any questions.

Updated job postings for July 31, 2023

If you are experiencing registration issues, the first tip is to make sure you are trying it on a browser instead of the app.
If you still are experiencing problems after you've tried that, please email oblongskyward@oblongschools.net

Student registration is open however we are experiencing some technical difficulties with elementary and junior high registration tiles on Family Access. We will be updating it throughout the day so if you don't see your student's registration tile, check back later. High school registration is working fine. We are very sorry for any inconvenience!
*Log in to Skyward to register each one of your students.
