The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Oblong Community Unit School District #4 was held on October 16, 2006 in the Elementary Library. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Poehler with the following physically present: Smith, Meese, Cross, Bilyew, Pinkston, Harris, and Poehler.

Recognition & Comment – The board recognized three high school golfers who advanced to Regional play: Tyler Mitchell, Jessica and Christina Pugh and then Jessica who advanced to state finals. Police Chief Chad Pusey presented a policy the police department is working on for response to active shooter situations.

Motion by Harris and seconded by Cross to adopt consent agenda items as presented. Roll call vote: Smith - yea, Meese - yea, Cross – yea, Bilyew - yea, Pinkston - yea, Harris – yea, Poehler - yea. Consent Agenda items: To approve regular and closed session minutes of September, 2006; financial report of September, 2006; payment of October, 2006 board bills; and to approve Grade School and High School to continue participation with North Central Association.

Motion by Pinkston and seconded by Cross to approve the Grade School Cheerleaders request to participate in the ICCA Cheer competition at Normal High School, Normal, IL on Saturday December 2, 2006. Roll call vote: Smith – yea,

Motion by Smith and seconded by Meese to approve Parent Teacher Conferences for Thursday October 26 from 12:00 Noon until 7:00 p.m. and Friday October 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Roll call vote: Smith – yea, Meese –yea,
