The
regular meeting of the Board of Education of Oblong Community Unit School
District #4 was held on June 15, 2009 in the Elementary Library. The meeting was called to order at 8:00
p.m. by President Poehler with the following physically present: Bailey,
Pinkston, Sparks, Higgins, Musgrave, Pusey, and Poehler.

by Sparks and seconded by Bailey to adopt consent agenda items as

Motion by Bailey and seconded by Pinkston to adopt the resolutions
finding that Students #0916 and #0938, made subject of a hearing before the
Board of Education at the request of the High School Principal, have been found
guilty of gross disobedience and misconduct as defined in Sections 710.13,
715.05 paragraphs 1, 2, and 6 in the Policies, Rules & Regulations of the
School District:
Section
710.13 is prohibiting possession and/or use of alcohol on school grounds;
Section
715.05 paragraph (1) prohibiting disobedience to rules regarding Student
conduct;
paragraph
(2) prohibiting possession of controlled substances;
paragraph
(6) being conduct that poses a danger to persons or disrupts the education
process.

Motion by Sparks and seconded by Musgrave to adopt the expulsion
resolutions of Students #0916 and #0938 for the remainder of the school year
with the following provisions:
That the
students be expelled from Oblong Community Unit School District No. 4 for the
remainder of the 2008-2009 school term, but such expulsions should be stayed
during such time that the Students attend and comply with all the rules of the
Safe School operated by the Regional Superintendent of Education.
Therefore,
be it resolved by the Board of Education of Oblong Community Unit School
District 4 as follows:
1. The recitals here above set forth are true and correct and by this
reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof as if set forth here
verbatim.
2. The Students shall be expelled as students from Oblong Community Unit
School District No. 4 for the remainder of the school term. Said expulsions shall include exclusion
from the school grounds and exclusion of attendance at all extra-curricular or
other activities of Oblong Community Unit School District whether or not open
to the public.
3. The explusions shall be suspended, effective June 5, 2009, and shall remain
suspended during the StudentŐs total compliance with all policies, rules and
regulations of the district for the balance of the school term, and in
addition, during the StudentŐs total compliance with the following terms. The Students shall:
A. Be assigned to and attend the Safe School of the Regional Office of
Education #12 if Students need additional credits towards graduation; and,
B. Not participate in or attend any Oblong school activities, including, for
example, athletic or extra-curricular events, games, performances, awards
ceremonies, trips, baccalaureate graduation or commencement.
C. Not be present on Oblong school grounds for any reason or purpose without
the advanced express written permission of the High School Principal or
Superintendent of Oblong CUSD #4; and
4. In the event the Students violate any of the foregoing, the StudentŐs
expulsions shall be immediately reinstated by the Superintendent and all
academic credits shall be forfeited for the school term.
5. These resolutions shall be in full force and effect forthwith upon their
adoption.
